@yohan @yakmacker this applies to gender in a pretty obvious way . a lot of assimilationists try to redefine trans people as Genuine Women/Men and fail to recognize that such a thing doesn't exist and never has , and perpetuating the construct of authenticity is necessarily exclusionary to anything that doesnt fit the ideal . it's also important to note that the construct of authenticity carries with it an (in my opinion irreversibly established) value judgment ; the Genuine Article is better than its simulant
