@ikeWren honestly I think the rise of video essays as the preferred "media analysis" format outside of academia has something to do with this. imo it is much harder to effectively communicate very abstract theoretical concepts through audiovisual format. I've only seen a handful of videos do this well, a lot of videos are just people who like to hear themselves talk and look good on screen
