"today" wasn't all bad though I made some progress on my game. the battle menus can actually be navigated. might need some polish, sure, but you can actually Go Back and the current menu will regain focus if you navigate out of it so that all should work nicely. Saving & loading needs more work though, but I think having an actual menu to look at the party makeup and stats takes priority since I'd rather not have to print everything to the console just to see some numbers
