I think perhaps that "life" is something very hard to define. but it does however exist on a spectrum.

@sierra interesting ... to me there's very little difference between things that are and are not alive . they all exist in a similar system of interactions just some of them have a more complex system of interactions than others . possibly this means that objects have more meaning or life has less meaning to me than to other people

@ikeWren no you're basically spot on, please do not fuck yourself without a trained professional nearby. the "spectrum" I was envisiong is essentially just. complexity. how much complex behaviors have arisen in this Creature. the idea is that Dunkin, The Dog That Likes To Watch Fish In A Specific Way would be more alive than, say a Ants. because Dunkin is experiencing more emotions and much more complexly

@ikeWren It all basically boils down to complexity emerging from much more simple systems, which are all basically designed to Continue Existing i.e. keep being alive & don't die. and it all keeps going until you reach chemistry which is, as far as I'm concerned, a set of rules for How Matter Can Change which exists on top of quantum physics, and that, in turn, is just a set of rules for how The Infinite Energy That Has Always Existed is allowed to move around. we exist as a result of all this

@ikeWren bonus thoughts: order and chaos also feel like some of those Essential Rules for Existence. order always begets chaos, and chaos always begets order. it's like how game of life can be created in game of life infinitely
