finally getting around to reading Flatline Constructs and realizing that as much as I like Mark Fisher he has the same fundamental problems as Nick Land: they're both still moids

@risE Mark Fisher soying out (but in a correct and intellectually serious way) about how the body is more primary than the mind and produces subjectivity, that its borders are permeable in such a way that is experienced by Man as body horror, that life is constantly engaged in feedback with the flatline death process, that hypermodernity is flattening out all of this into an immanent shredding of all subjectivity before complex self-propagating and self-organizing systems

me, a tranny for whom all of this is just a normal part of my everyday life: acedia so trve king have you considered you can in fact participate in and make yourself worthy of this process rather than merely talking about it?

@risE to be clear the book is quite good but I also find it very quaint how everything he's saying is shit that I've always intuited without having to be a theorycel about it (the theorists I make use of are simply a contagion vector)

@rowb1t @risE idk if I get that vibe from Fisher so much as I feel like he was one of the good ones for recognizing his own obsolescence as historically necessary and affirmed it on that basis. it's a pretty consistent theme in Fisher's writing that maleness is an inferior relic that is closer to humanity's ape origins than the feminine but he never makes the leap that one doesn't need to be afraid to let their body die

if this had dawned on him in any vital way he would have done something zestier than killing himself (he could have had at least jumped in a volcano like empedocles!)

@nyx @risE i'm mostly memeing but i did sort of feel that a bit from some of Ghosts of My Life, though if i'm being honest that could be largely applicability / projection on my own part given the time frame when i read it. admittedly there's a lot of his work i haven't read -- from what you've mentioned Flatline Constructs seems worth a look (i think i already have a pdf of it).

@ikeWren @Erato_Heti @nyx @risE whenever i take Holy Communion (listening to Burial) the soundwaves transubstantiate into the words of Fisher as they enter my ear canals.
