Q: Did the bar soap hurt/burn or make your tongue swell up or just taste bad?

A: it just tasted bad. it probably would have swollen if i was allergic to something in the soap but there has only ever been one brand of soap i have ever been allergic to

@iam is this a common thing parents do? my parents just threatened to make me eat soap if I said slurs

@nautilus i don't think its that common anymore but at least where i lived yeah it was fairly common

@rainbowpink yeah i don't either. ig maybe i can kinda understand it if your child is like saying slurs and you have to do it as a last resort if you can't get through to them about not doing that but parents seem to love to overreact and act like any small grievance they have with their child is the end of the world. very strange if you ask me

@iam super duper strange!! i feel like so many parents jump right to the physical/punitive punishments instead of explaining to their kids like…here’s why we don’t do that (probably bc they also say those kinds of things themselves and are just trying to control the kid’s behavior so nobody thinks they’re a bad parent but that’s a topic for another day)
