@hayley @corpsedoll meh. I get it but the sentiment is just too judgy for me. I dont care to create a whole new set of social rules and expectations and norms around how to be autistic correctly and not be cringe about it. being autistic means you're gonna be cringe about it sometimes, even in the eyes of other autists. the point is to be okay with that.

@corpsedoll @patchuun I mean, I don't intend to construe rules about how The Real Autist should behave, I was quipping that people who self-describe as neurodivergent/neurospicy/etc umbrella seem rather not that mentally ill and still get jumpy if you're more ill than them, but that's probably from me having other things that aren't autism, so who am I to judge

@corpsedoll @patchuun like I've had people who purport to be neurodivergent basically throw the neurotypical platitudes at me "it gets better! keep trying you'll make friends eventually!", some other neurodivergent sharehouse turned me down for having noise sensitivity issues, like what are we doing here, it just doesn't mean anything to me to use those kinds of terms

@ikeWren @corpsedoll @hayley I dont disagree, and for what it's worth I do default to saying I'm autistic (among other specific things as relevant) rather than simply neurodivergent (and despite defending it here, I've never actually self-described as "neurospicy", nor do I really advocate for it per se; I just don't find it something worth looking down on)

I probably still won't like them, for them getting to the right conclusion from very wrong reasons. it only reduces N options to N - 1, which is only really useful for N = 2 which it usually isn't
