terfs and more overt fascists are both obsessed with being normal/natural and seem to believe it's their ordained role to pluck out and annihilate anything not "natural" (according their own conception of nature) so it's not a shock that they and reactionary anprims all love living in Britain

@risperdoll ironic since they've been busy decimating all their ecosystems for the past 600 years

@risperdoll note also that this is a throughline in fascism since its inception proper . hitler talked constantly about the laws of nature and how they supposedly aligned with the nazi agenda .

@risperdoll the pallid white cliffs of dover will dissolve, chalk crumbling into the tides as albion sinks in the flood and rain and blood and chaos. it was no more than a mirage, perverted faux-pastoralism the gardens, grasslands, hedgerows hollow. plastic celticism from the spoils of old oilrigs. tartan tourist tatt. half-baked haggis neofusion menus. a whole city as a harry potter theme park. may it all burn

@ikeWren true but what's interesting is the terf version may have a fucking Scholastic origin in the works of Thomas Aquinas; some early TERFs (raymond, daly) were ex-nuns and brought an interestingly natural-law based conception of why pretty much any artificial intervention into gender was bad. "Intact" by Clare Chambers is a more recent recapitulation of this kind of thinking

existential threat

@risperdoll i should also look into how often terfs and techno-natalists rub noses , because it seems like this particular thing would put them at odds somewhat (although they both tend to hate trans people and be natalists)

@risperdoll natalism is so odd because its proponents tend to be extremely ideologically disparate but they also frequently collaborate in terms of political agenda . sigh .... why can't leftists have something like that .....

@ikeWren @risperdoll despite the superficial differences, they are both humanists in the end. transhumanism (mostly) does not conceptually stray from its roots in humanism and thus only augments humanist naturalism, which isn't a threat to terf naturalists, for the same reason that none of them have a problem with glasses or prosthetic legs.

@risperdoll I think they are also fascist in the sense of that one Sakai essay where it says that fascism is a revolutionary movement of the petty bourgeoisie to turn themselves into the bourgeoisie through the preservation of tradition. They see that trans women are the gender proletariat and that they have power over them but are oppressed by men. Instead of siding with trans women over men they want to replace the men as the gender bourgeoisie in their own twisted reimagining of what tradition is. Ironically Sakai describes this impulse as a specifically male one, giving new weight to my "terfs are spiritually male" argument.
