btw i found this simply by searching wikipedia for “activated charcoal”. it’s not particularly hard to find information instead of just shooting your mouth off.

unfortunately there’s a tendency among people on the internet to think that a more extreme version of a correct statement must therefore be more correct

kind of like how “nicotine interferes with oral estrogen administration” got turned into “if you smoke anything at all and take estrogen in any way at all it will render the estrogen ineffective”

“Activated charcoal is amazing,” says Elissa Goodman, a Los Angeles-based holistic nutritionist who’s developed cleanse plans for celebrities like Kate Hudson. “I have used it for myself, my children use it, and we always travel with it. It’s powerful, potent stuff that is able to trap toxins and chemicals in the body and help flush them out so that they’re not absorbed. I think our bodies are really toxic.”

"I think our bodies are really toxic" what a thing to say

@aisling yeah that one annoys me to no end. there are studies! you can read them! you can see exactly what they say, and it's 100% "nicotine can interfere with oral estrogen uptake" and so many people are just jumping on "smoking makes you pass less" with a weird tranny moral judgement

@imbl @aisling "a fundamental part of you is dirty and wrong and we are here to sell you something that will make you [right-whole-correct-clean] again"

@imbl @aisling a schizophrenic guy I know was told to take activated charcoal by a relative, it ended up neutralizing his psych meds and he ended up hospitalized
