Personally I think that AI is bad

I also do not have the time or energy to boycott all software using it

I do think AI is bad for the environment, though I agree that the water argument is blown out of proportion

The real problem, in my view, is the energy cost. AI requires many, many data centres to be built, and requires additional power plants (usually burning fossil fuels) to power them. This is a problem, since we need to be reducing the energy that we are using and switching to green energy.

Now, it’s common to point out all the things that I do that are bad for the environment, which isn’t really wrong, but like… all this and AI isn’t even particularly useful?

Maybe it’s useful to you, idk. I’ve just never seen anywhere I would use it that I wouldn’t have an easier time not using it.

@TransTina every environmental argument against AI use is also an argument against consuming animal products, but veganism is often less socially acceptable than hating AI ime

But I also don’t want AI to exist and it’s at least partially an environmental reason
