My favorite comment so far is the person who says I should really put a warning up front for "discussions of animal death."
My brother in Christ, this is the thumbnail you clicked:
@sarahtaber frankly the effort to CW nearly *everything under the sun* has led me to unfollow others who do it. It irritates me to a likely unreasonable level.
Edit: I know that people do not and should not care what I think about their posting habits. That's just something that grinds my gears as it (imo) is IMPOSSIBLE to censor one's self in that manner and remain an effective communicator.
@ianto_jones Yup. I get where the CW idea comes from, and I'm sure I'm not the target audience. But people who ought to know better wind up using it in a way that it just turns into a softer, ~progressive~ form of censorship.
I presented once to a group about how the US farm lobby lies. This includes scaremongering about the farm suicide epidemic. It's fake. The rate for farmers in the US is 100% in line with their demographic- older rural white men with guns.
@ianto_jones And the ~progressive~ group I was speaking to went "Whoa whoa whoaaaaa we can't just talk about suicide! That's a sensitive topic!"
...Yeah, hon! That's why the farm lobby uses it! They know that if they push that scary button, nobody will talk back to them about it.
The line between "respectful" and "useful idiot" gets real thin when it comes to agriculture.
