it's hard to come up with a western example that would illustrate why this is so incorrect. and it would be so easy to come up with your own concept (like star wars did with the force) and people who know would know! but you were just feeling Devilishly Orientalist i suppose

i guess it's good luck that this website's own homegrown crop of appropriative new age hustlers have chosen to target buddhism instead of daoism as in the latter case i would actually have had to commit murder

@esvrld recently I was talking with some acquaintances about a certain online occultist who has been offering "lessons" on "Daoist and Buddhist folk magic" despite having no empowerments or other qualifications to teach. her day job is lawyer 🙄
