probably most of the bible started as oral tradition so written vs oral law is very misleading

@georgia hmmm i mean, written vs oral law is based on the tradition that Moses was given the full Torah at Sinai and was the writer of the written Torah I think? you could say the opposite thing about the fact that the oral law was written down eventually

@ug @georgia the torah only contains genesis to deuteronomy, so while it is weird that he wrote about his own death, the torah ends with it so there isn't very much about his descendants. but yeah idk where the tradition comes from. it's weird he wrote in the third person but maybe that was common back then

@georgia I unironically like God's answer to Job, especially Job 38:25-27. a lot of people seem to hate the Book of Job though

@nautilus I havent read the book of job because I am one of the people who doesnt like the story. but I realize it addresses a certain need for people who dont understand Gods perfect justice and perfect mercy. my philosophy is that God is a teacher, not a tester.

@georgia @nautilus it becomes very important when you realize Job was granted a vision of the resurrection well in advance

@georgia I don't really follow Judaism anymore but I like that passage of Job specifically because it is a refreshingly anti-anthropocentric twist to the Bible. God as the unfolding of all of nature itself
