just found out the vatican used to name their nameservers after the archangels, having had `michael.vatican.va`, `gabriel.vatican.va` and `raphael.vatican.va`; as well as having other servers named after the apostles
this goes kinda hard as a naming scheme, i can't even lie
@lina feels like the Magi in Evangelion (melchior, balthasar and casper)
@lina my servers are named after the angels from Neo Genesis Evangelion :3
:3
@lina This reminds me of that angels being divine machinery and full of wires theory.
Still weird to see religion in any way engage with modernity.
there is actually a bit more to this, i found this article: https://katholisch.de/artikel/28537-there-is-room-for-technology-in-gods-plan-the-popes-first-female-webmaster
> Sister Judith Zoebelein was responsible for the development and operation of the Vatican's website in the mid-1990s - together with a few employees and three archangels: the computer "Raphael" was responsible for the content, the firewall was called "Michael", and the server for the emails "Gabriel".
