music is a language with a complex vocabulary and syntax and pop is what it sounds like when you flatten it to make it as sellable as possible for people who are not musicians and do not listen to music . it is the newspeak of music . it's an even more hitlerite fucking genre than the actual music hitler used

and the thing is it is so unbearably WHITE. it is the distillation and culmination of everything that was ever white about rock or jazz or blues while filtering out everything else . and some artists complicate this a Little Bit but it doesnt even fucking matter because theyre still serving the pop industry which exists entirely to sell white music to white people and maintain (almost entirely amerikkkan) organized white hegemony over the musical landscape

and it's FUCKED how well it worked. the pop industry has reinforced music-as-commodity so well that ordinary people are afraid to sing in private if they don't meet the standard of what's marketable . the only people who sing as a community anymore are musicians and religious people . that's insane !!! a huge piece of culture that has been practically ubiquitous for tens of thousands of years is no longer considered accessible to the everyman . folk music in its most recognizable form is practically dead in most of the spaces that i've been in . the hyper-commodification of music is infinite genocide on the human race
