I will always hold a special place for starbound in my heart. it's my most played game on steam, second only to minecraft which I can't even get an estimate of. FFXIV is definitely also up there but I can't check my playtime since my sub expired and also that's not important right now.
point is, I love that game. but unfortunately I literally cannot seriously play it seriously anymore. all things considered it's not a very good game, not well put together and not an interesting story. it's not a bad game but it ... leaves you wanting.
I'm sure FU is a fun mod if you can actually get into it but I really can't care. when I played it yesterday all I did was kill people and do drugs and go mad and look at some weird planets. I can't take it seriously. and I guess that's okay, but that still says something about the game I think.

I haven't looked into any vessel-knight theories but I can see how it would be like . thematically pretty cool.
mainly, it's the similarities to Kris. like, you've created a copy of them maybe for maximum soul compatibility. the aura farming, poses, wielding a sword. it's interesting. furthermore, if it really is "your" form, the red damage numbers contra red soul ... well it kinda lines up.
but I do think Rudy or Asriel are more likely to be the knight. I still remain opposed to dessknight but I wouldn't be surprised, I just think it’s not as complicated as some theorists make it out to be, like how the soul actually belongs to her. it could just as well belong to no one, an apparition for you and you alone
