it's very obvious when someone doesn't understand how fedi works because they'll treat it like social media but at the same time try to sell the fact that there's no algorithm.
like, no, social media platforms have an algorithm so that 1. you'll find stuff you like and 2. you'll find people you like. obviously that's no longer the case but that's the entire point of a social media algorithm. it's fundamentally different without that, because it fundamentally alters how you use and experience the platform.
no, not even mastodon.social is an alternative to twitter, because it doesn't work like twitter. it can look and feel like twitter and you can treat it like twitter but it's never gonna BE like twitter because it does not WORK like twitter.
the fediverse is people* showing things other to people,* THAT'S how it works.
