point being if you're signed with a label you are not "indie." it's not a genre and you can't "make" indie music you have to BE it. and you can only BE independent if you don't have a record label breathing down your neck. it's that simple. but unfortunately The Great Attractor Which Seeks To Neutralize All Things (human stupidity? unwillingness to learn??) has deemed it a genre in and of itself.

on a related note, the problem with trying to predict the market is that as soon as you say "it is going to go up" it has already gone up; the very act of making a prediction will alter the future.
