to be fucking honest i don't know if years of transfeminism have lead to anything genuinely useful for the average tranny on the street; the "legitimization" (legibilization, state capture of systems of trans care, official state propaganda in support of transitioners etc) of transsexuality was a side effect of the post-great-recession wave of lib success and considered more a natural outgrowth of the granting of gay rights etc than anything specific to transsexualism or the work of transfeminists. Trans rights in our current system are/were the high water mark of neoliberalism with a human face -- things granted to individuals not out of respect for autonomy, gender or bodily, but out of a need to reterritorialize this group of people less for their own sake than for enclosing humanity within the neolib ekumen.

perhaps some good work was done with regard to consciousness raising of trans women and to education of such issues but that is buried under the sheer amount of marxist flavoured hopium/copium anesthetic gas most brandname transfeminists huff and spread to their marks. the average unhinged twitter addict spewing bits about enjoying their new tits and girlcocks and tumblr users etc writing about their experiences and people like Nyx writing things that are way way outside the overton window of normal transfeminism have done more for Jenny Q. Tranny than all of these wordpress/movable type/substack/livejournal etc types bloviating to hell and back about mostly internet drama and other shit that ultimately does not get down to the questions that I, as a sanity-challenged, deformed-joint-enjoying, apparently somehow elder tranny have, such as "hey what are we gonna do about surviving the coming tide of fascism in ways that don't involved just running to whatever country decides to be a hugbox for us" or "how can we keep hrt etc going if we have to deal with more supply shocks bc of industrial society finally dying?" or "hey how can we figure out actually effective ways of living in community, sharing resources etc that don't replicate the mistakes of past attempts?" instead of shit like endless metacommenary on the latest problematic post someone made or the latest transphobic shit some cissie said that we have to pretend to be genuinely shocked and angry about even tho' frankly you're a moron if you expect them to do anything more than the bare minimum.

i think this is definitely a problem of Anglos being Anglos (anglia delenda est) /Global Northerners being Global Northerners to a great extent and having a mystified belief in enlightenment institutions etc but ffs we can do better
