@vitalis

Those have an interesting history. Among other things, they were classified along with automatic firearms in the under the logic that they were inherently concealed weaponry.

@VictimOfSimony @vitalis in canada they're banned with the same law that bans nunchucks and switchblades you can flick open one-handed, TIL there was any attempt to control them in the US!

@zuki @vitalis reading the second amendment in a way that implies that women carrying weapon-optimized hat pins is mandatory

any country that bans nunchuck genuinely deserves to be ridiculed SO FUCKING HARD. whats next gonna ban karambits? and other curved blades too so linemen have to get like really large wire strippers cause they cant use their knives anymore?

its just stupid. nunchucks' are mostly just good at hurting yourself

I heard canada has pretty strict laws when it comes to carrying anything that could be used as a weapon 🤔

@vitalis @VictimOfSimony @zuki it's kinda complicated but it boils down to the judge's smell test of whether they could reasonably imagine someone walking around with it for reasons totally unconnected to its affordance as an implement of violence

@zuki @VictimOfSimony @vitalis hold on

i'm donig like 5 thngs at once and just string searched for "nunch" and didn't see the word "former" there

...this just goes to my old arguments against the way this law works...

I brought up the Sikhs in particular because they are more heavily restricted in the pro-gun than in and are actively persecuted by the teacher's unions. dunno shrug_akko

@VictimOfSimony @zuki @vitalis @pwm i have more respect for the sikh religion than nearly any other theology so yeah that checks out :(

legit just oppression of a religious minority tbh

here in germany i think they can get away with it if the blade is short enough. theres like a max blade length of 10cm for fixed blades which might work depending on how the curve is measured

@VictimOfSimony @vitalis @zuki ok i'm pretty sure that's just "former" in the sense of the regulation having been enacted in the past and not being the most recent one, *whether or not* any subsequent regulation actually replaces it or just adds to it

In the there have been court cases about teens going through their rite of passage to be a man and being expected to carry a blade, and trying to sew dull postage-stamp-sized pieces of metal into the hem of their clothing as a way to adhere, but the school finding out and expelling them on principle. blobcatshrug

Your profile doesn't display for me. What did you have for lunch? blobcatsipglare

what I had for lunch is not in my profile 😉

as usual on Thursdays, I went to my favorite restaurant, just before the choir rehearsal.

I had plenty of salads, rice, beans, eggplant lasagna, and blush some varieties of meat.
(so much for an OpenVegan 🙂

in Brazil, lunch is often the most substantial meal of the day.

how about you?

@iron_bug @vitalis @VictimOfSimony @zuki context matters a lot

you're almost certainly looking at charges for assault or uttering threats on top of the weapons charge but any time you might get for them would probably be concurrent

@lxo

I enjoyed farva beans with a vinnegar-based cranberry reduction, and switched to a vulgar cheese dish fin dinner. Neither was substantial. blobcatshrug

I once got a screwdriver that disguised as a pen. it was great for traveling. I usually forget I have it in my backpack, and no airport security theater agent ever bothered me about it.

@iron_bug @vitalis @VictimOfSimony @apophis @zuki What about my thick, powerful hands, that can be used as a weapon, or wield any kind of weapon?
