i just finished R-Type Final and it is a fantastic game. Up there with R-Type Delta. It was an interesting decision of the R-Type team to claim the rare title of "shoot-em-up with a sex scene". The game probably has the most amount of replayability in a shoot-em-up.

@matusguy "most replayability in a shoot-em-up" is quite a bold statement though, you should check out some touhou games or cave games ;3

@patchuun I focus more on traditional horizontal shmups, that is to say....... not bullet hells. However I do want to get into bullet hells somehow, just can't figure out when.

@matusguy if horis are your jam, maybe deathsmiles would be a good gateway drug to danmaku land!

@patchuun Sure but when I said that I was refering to the fact the game has 100 unlockable ships to choose from (most are similar to others so it kinda goes down to 40-60 or something. Still a lot.) Once again I am not very familiar with danmaku games heheh

The reason why I tend to enjoy horis more is one that i believe is more specific to non-danmaku games and one i can't really formulate easily... Basically, horis and vertis are both shmups, sure, but they have a... "different soul". Horis are more interesting to route in my opinion.

I don't know. I suck at all of the games anyway. Im just here to have fun with the time i invest in shmupping. trying out a new game here... a 1cc attempt there... bleh
