@maypop_neocities you've got to be crazy *not* to think various governments and corporations and lobby groups and nonprofits etc. are using LLMs in intentional disinfo campaigns... Elon Musk has been pretty open about his attempts to manipulate Grok to that purpose so imagine what competent people must be doing right now

@apophis i think convincing people to share slop or to trust the slop is also part of the broader disinformation campaign. people who are aware that the slop is unreliable will have a harder time finding correct information when they can trust everything even less and there's so much more incorrect information that's even harder to filter out, and people who trust it, well, they're getting direct misinformation anyway.
