How do you justify fun in such a fucked up world.

Like work is justified because I need to eat.

Helping is justified because the world should be less fucked up.

How do I justify having fun?

@spycrab taking care of your mental health (including by having fun) is also a need, like your need to eat

very relatable line of thought though, I struggle with this too sometimes

@freyalikesgirls I guess that does make since I struggle with that because I know there are people worse off than me and the effort put into being fun might be 'better' used to help more people.

@spycrab because to me, fun is the point of living. You are part of the world, and by having fun, you are happier, and thus the world is better.

@spycrab it’s what everyone says really but the human brain really wasn’t wired to be this aware of all the suffering happening in the world at once, to still be able to have fun in spite of it all is one of the few respites we have as a species

@spycrab yea!! it’s both a distraction from the horrors and an active rebellion against the horrors that you don’t let them consume your thoughts and make you miserable the whole time ^^

burnout is very real, having fun and throwinf aerious stuff aside just for a bit is good to avoid that, so you can help more people long term even if less short term

@spycrab for me it's the reason i do any of those other things in the first place! i work so i can eat so i can live so i can experience joy and happiness and such. i help others because it both directly makes me happy and also creates a better world that i am happier living in
