its so interesting how chuck's illness manifests in s1, like RIGHT after jimmy explains the billboard thing and says that it was a 1 time thing and that everything will be fine after. he doesn't feel the need of the space blanket anymore and gets up to make coffee.

i mean i knew it was psychological since the beginning (even before I AM NOT CRAZY I KNEW HE SWAPPED THOSE NUMBERS) but those little details just show it from the beginning without being too obvious.

everything that triggers chuck's illness could have a secondary cause.
"he got sick because he went out, not because he read the slipping jimmy story"
"he got sick because jimmy had his phone, not because he came back home drunk"
so it's so difficult to really tell other than these small details throughout the series

bravo mince

@fiore i do think that i've seen s1 so many times atp that it's gonna be a slog tho, also because the first few seasons are kinda boring too

@autumn chuck is a dork in denial and always takes it as a conclusion that people will listen to what he has to say and play by the rules. when people don't listen or play by the rules, i read it as him feigning something "more important" to become the centre of attention again and supercede whatever everyone else is thinking about.

i seem to remember this theory working well with the full series, but i'm rewatching it now too.

@agelessgodfollowforprosperity yeah thats definitely one of the main motivators for his hatred of jimmy being a lawyer, putting "the law is a sacred thing" above all else. even to the end during the chicanery speil the battery in his breast pocket didn't just humiliate and undermine him, but it was also a trick pulled by "slipping jimmy". something that he made incredibly clear throughout s1 to jimmy that it's something he hated and wanted to change. its even the main thread of the chicanery speech lmao

@autumn @fiore I’ve been watching this series on youtube … it’s very good and it also counts as rewatching the show in my opinion. has given me a deeper understanding and appreciation for the show and what went into making it

and there’s also one for breaking bad!
