specifically, the chip and dale video that my grandmother, for some reason, decided to show us. the one where they drop the acorns into a chicken coop and one of them has to pretend to be a newborn baby chicken.

it's a comedic cartoon for kids. I know this. there is no "deeper point" to it. but when I don't find it particularly funny I can't help but... question it. did he have to hide inside the eggshell? did he have to pretend to be a baby chicken? why does the hen still incubate him after he "hatches," that's not how brooding works. does anything even matter? I'll give you a hint: no

you'd assume the rooster would be mad about receiving a carpet bombing of acorns but it gets immediately dismissed; there is no trouble for chip nor dale. no one notices he's not a chicken, is this supposed to imply that his imitation of a newborn chick is flawless (genuinely thought the eggs were walnuts, mind you,) or that these majestic birds are too stupid to realize?

the worst thing that happens to him as that he gets laughed at, and then the episode just ends. meaningless. a predicament of his own making, frankly. I do not laugh at him. I do not laugh at his shallow misfortunes. goodbye.
