@sierra @fiore well theres a secondary point there to, possibly a more important one, which is that state¹ media by design can incidentally take otherwise 'mundane' or 'low level' violences and balloon their effect in scope.
which is to say, it being a youtube video helps relocate the severity of it. state media is a media of eternal crises and dismay. its one of the reasons scapegoating happens to begin with. capitalists obviously in a moment of crises want somebody to blame that isnt them so they are complient to not fixing the campaign of ignorance (especially by self abnegating accountability under concepts like 'free speech' through accumulation of capital through attention grabbing stories). the capitalist newspaper can not survive without beaming you constantly with a firehouse of crises which naturally will create bigoted and self repressive outcomes.
this is the main reason why I dont trust state media is not so much its 'wrong' per se but because it becomes such a tiring firehouse of high profiled wrongdoing that it becomes exhausting and hijacks your mind. I could illustrate this by pointing out the 'natural' process of scapegoating under capitalist production is a large part of what led to ongoing antisemitism in germany. or I can point out that this story we are talking about here would again 'obviously' be misconstrued as 'trans people abusing everyone'. however I'm going to forgo those conclusion and point out that this is what leads to the spectacle of domestic violence and murder cases among celebrities to have way more impact than they have any right to. shit like Depp v. Heard, People of the State of California v. Orenthal James Simpson (aka the 'case of the century'), People v. Jackson. It should be illegal to have a case publicized about before its conclusion. No case ever between a celebrity and the public should be recorded, especially not live recorded, during its process. There should not be a camera in the courtroom period. But capital demands that their should be and we have THIS to blame for the erosion of our privacy rights (as an international community, im not just referring to the US I just only know US high profile cases) today.
