@lizzy fedi is always like “we want more users who have the right to say it. and who would never say it under any circumstances”
@lizzy Fedi will constantly find new and innovative ways to mulch marginalized people who don’t fit in with the fossbro and uwu blahaj crowd
BTW, @luna is systematically deleting from her instance any replies making it clear she’s being racist by attacking a Black person for reclaiming slurs. The replies can still be seen from other instances.
@lizzy This is the context why @luna threw the name of a Black girl on #fediblock for a reclaimed slur, so we’re all on the same page why it happened. Other instances have kept the context.
@lizzy Fediblocking is stupid for all but the most obvious things (csam, spam, mastodon.social). Kind of get why someone would look at that person's profile and block though. It's very obvious they're embedded in 4chan-descended culture, deep in the irony poisoned well. I get it though, I'm Black, and grew up and spent my early 20s in 4chan, 8chan, lainchan, and irc channels where "nigger" was used as something of a universal slur (loaded with degrees of irony and always with a backdrop of racism, inherently).
If you haven't experienced board culture at all, you see that and walk the other fucking way because you're relatively a normie lol. Also last screenshot in here is actually just funny because a couple of posts before they were asking for a specific monitor for black history month lmao
@zyd @lizzy As someone who has also unfortunately experienced board culture by growing up around it and came out of it, and who came across that person's social circle a while ago by going down a fedi rabbit hole, I did mute them because unfortunately they're really deep in it. Their social circle includes very racist white people, who are very far beyond the "irony" phase. Really fucked up stuff honestly.
@lizzy Ah yeah, no disagreement there. I don't think that kind of callout helps much in changing people either. I'd guess it'll probably just result in them calling the fediblock requester slurs and feeling more righteous in being in the circles they're in. The approach @zyd mentioned practicing in their other reply is definitely the more productive way, provided one has the patience for it...
