If you ascribe everything going on in the US right now to "they must be being influenced by Russia", then do yourself a favor and read about the history of the DHS, the FBI report on police officers keeping known white supremacists in their ranks, and the US's history of racism when the state thinks it's advantageous.

We've done internment camps before. We've done mass deportation raids before. The aleutian people never fully recovered from being placed in concentration camps during WWII by the US for the crime of looking vaguely asian while living close to the russian border.

What's happening right now is a terrifying escalation, and should serve as a wakeup call to the evils we've already been committing. Saying this is because we're a puppet state, or controlled by russia, or that ICE is some secret mossad op, or any of the other conspiracy theories going around right now just shifts the blame away from us.

It says "things are bad right now but, with enough nationalism and suspicion of foreigners, I'm sure we can fix it!"

@Dio9sys
I mean, famously the treatment of Mexican Immigrants by US border agents was a major inspiration for the holocaust¹, if anything ICE right now is just returning to their roots.

potentially hazardous object

ok but:

1. the specific way in which this regime lies *about* what happens still has such a distinctively Kremlin vibe to it all on its own

2. we've had intel findings and reports and people really specifically warning us about this specific intervention this time

2'. ...including my own personal experience of people involved in that psyop

3. what's the actual actionable takeaway for the reader here? nothing, it's always been this bad, it will get worse, there's nothing to improve, there's nothing, you should be scared, you should suicide

@apophis actionable takeaway is watch hypernormalisation by adam curtis and stop acting shocked that they’re lying about something so plainly contradicting the official line and do something about it
