I like starbound but I don't think it's a very good game. it's easy to like but hard to love

I have like 900 hours in this game and I genuinely don't think it's good. it's cool and all and I've enjoyed my time with it but, it's just. not well made. it's badly optimized, fails to be engaging, and the story is just kinda nothing. the only way to keep it fun is with mods but it still doesn't solve everything!! even with free reign over everything the game has to offer, cheats enabled and infinite resources and everything else, it's still slow and clunky

last time I played it I installed frackin universe and got some friends to play it with me and max streamed is too. it basically turned into a podcast where we were just constantly trying to retrieve our shit after dying all the time. which is fun in a way but that's because I like being with my friends so

the best defense in this game is to just kill everything before it can touch you to be tbh ... think abt it

I might pick it up again I might throw in some of the mods I used 2 play with as well make a new character n just go into admin and see what rucus I can get up to, frackin universe is a fucking Crazy mod it's like gregtech for starbound. it's very unfortunate that it's executed kiiinda poorly. like, I have to use the wiring system that's used for boolean logic systems? the same technology I use to make, like, an automatic door?? really?? this is what's carrying the power of a nuclear reactor????

you can build some sick fucking shit though I'll give them that. the blocks and decorations look great especially the more futuristic stuff. very sleek.
