@ezra @maypop_neocities honestly those ain't too far off at this point. they've had PLENTY of chances and a lot of great reasons to leave and havent, that is a political statement

@soop @ezra speaking of migrating discord's HORRENDOUS HELL WORLD UI finally annoyed me enough to uninstall it from my phone. now the only way i have left to use it is through a desktop browser. one massive step closer. i need to start finding where to go though.

@ezra i know there's not much in terms of direct #discord replacements but i think that a lot of stuff i use it for could be replaced by more specific (and instantly better) tools, especially since there's basically only one community discord """server""" i actually use.

for dms i could use signal.

there's a "writer's club" """server""" that i and two other people use to discuss and write notes on our writing and gamedev projects. this could be replaced by maybe something like a multiplayer obsidian vault.

one """server""" i use is for jame smp. i am not sure but that could be partially replaced by minecraft chat. of course there's still the case of the server being down, plus some people like to voice chat which i don't really understand but hey doesn't signal have voice chats maybe i could try that.

for the one actual standalone community i am really not sure.

but i lived just fine (better actually) without discord and i will hopefully find a way to rebuild a better environment to live in after abandoning that terrible platform.
