@winter ive had similar ideas to this …
scott mccloud has some fascinating comics on his website - this one you can read in two dimensions - panels branch off from each other . its sooo cool . ive read Many webcomics & am often disappointed they dont take advantage of the digital medium in the way homestuck does . nature of nature’s art does a little better then this – there are pages too large for the browser , that you have to scroll through , which creates awesome scale . most webcomics are just stuck in a page format though .
this two dimensional story is exactly the same kind of cool digital-advantage ….
porpentine made hyperlink fiction right? i havent read any of it yet but this same kind of game/story intersection is cool …
im rambling idk where i was going lol .forgive me . but anyway
my idea was like your two dimensional story but like , choices could come up , & you could enter parallel universes? like the timeline would split with an important choice . but you could also follow characters & sometimes theyd cross into an alternate reality from an earlier choice you didnt take … so replayability is very high . & you’d take a different choice & see new stuff before coming upon characters you followed last read-through
different idea . imagine if instead of following characters / chronological time you only followed objects ? i think that would be interesting - the gimmick would create less work (characters’ stories wouldn’t need to be complete if they leave the object) &
whateverr
