I’m kinda curious with recent discord events, people keep sayin’ “IRC still exists” but it’s been forever for me since I touched that world, what clients y’all use (especially if ur on Linux) and what servers are still active and interesting (gotta be safe for queers agummyblobblewobble) ???

Boosts welcome btw

@HaruEb

This is totally not me shamelessly plugging 🔌 @thermia's IRC server at irc.girlthi.ng

Nope. That's not what this is at all.

@alex @thermia you’re the first person so far to actually give me an address lmao, and anyway, thermia rules haha

@HaruEb I've been interested in IRC for ages, but whenever I actually dip my toe in it just feels awkward. Like I'm eavesdropping on a conversation among Ents. Very slow conversations, interleaved such that it's not clear how many different conversations are tangled together.

I suppose finding a reasonably active server/group would help with the flow.

@HaruEb i was using senpai when i still had my laptop

servers wise there was a general furry one i frequented that was openly queer friendly

@HaruEb I mostly use IRC to find out of print stuff, but Hexchat is a good open source client imo

@HaruEb hexchat seems decent but i'm almost always using the web interface on a friend's server because that's how the bouncer lets you see posts from while you were logged off

@MarkAssPandi @thermia @HaruEb @alex I can't believe that either "awawa ^^" was borderline, but this... this is too much
