It’s 2025 and I can’t sign up for a T-Mobile free trial because their form doesn’t think that a two character last name is a valid name. 🙄

@MuseumShuffle this stuff seems so much worse now than it was in 2010 and i really wonder why

things merely enshittifying because of venture capital and "disruptive" tech investment doesn't explain it, this kind of backslide is like buildings being actively retrofitted to remove ramps or new screens having lower resolutions

@apophis @MuseumShuffle It's not WHAT is making the software now, it's WHO.

@averyvine @MuseumShuffle

This list is missing the one that pops up for me all the time: my last name has a space and two capital letters. No dash. Yes both words are, together, my single last name. Neither is my middle name, or first name.

The IRS cares about the space*. I care about the space. It's my space.

Yes, the space affects pronunciation. No, it's not hard to pronounce in most languages. It's phonetic.

Humans have no issues with spelling or reading my name but computers are too often baffled

*There is a whole story here

@CorvidCrone @MuseumShuffle I feel for you 😓 getting names right is so important, must be frustrating to have to deal with that all the time

@averyvine @MuseumShuffle

The wild part is that my last name has been in North America since at least 1640.

No excuses, lol
