@vitalis where were the british authorities when the tarrasque was mercilessly lynched by a hate mob?

@vitalis wow the babylon bee just manages to ruin everything with its shallow parody

like literally dude had a killing-people weapon, the point of the UK overreach with "bladed weapons" is that it covers nearly any tool for any purpose

and it wasn't a person, but a rare beast of some sort

this *could* have been developed into a genuinely funny bit about conservation, wildlife regulation, overzealous enforcement, virtue signalling and everyday bureaucratic red tape, but...

@vitalis@dirtyknight.life deeply uncomfortable that he lived somwhere that allowed him to even own a sword like that... like its only use is killing. why should a civilian ever have one? i know the dragon literally was attacking him for no good reason and st george probably feared for his life, but why is no one thinking about the dragons well being in this situation? using a MILITARY GRADE weapon on someone who might actually kill you is totally disproportionate....

@vitalis@dirtyknight.life anyway thanks for bringing this to my attention i hope whomever i vote for next election sacrifices all their political capital to ban these MILITARY LONG SWORDS ik they only make up like a tiny percent of sword crime but i mean they look p scary compared to daggers so like yea

@apophis@kill-corporations.enterprises
@vitalis@dirtyknight.life there's legally no distinction between a butter knife and a longsword (both are bladed articles), and accordingly, I've used my longsword to butter toast before. I think it's important to highlight the innovation the CJA etc has promoted here

@vivi
@vitalis@dirtyknight.life anti-dragon libel. if he was attacked, we can be sure he deserved it. no excuse for possessing a bladed article in a public place.

@evelyn @vitalis@dirtyknight.life true! just because the right to bear swords is a literal constitutional right like right next there with free speech and the right to remain silent, he invited what happened onto himself. he might not have broken any laws, not in his state, but like why would he have the sword with him in public like that? i think he deserves to get eaten for that tbh

@evelyn @vitalis now i want to see an action adventure thriller where the Pendragon really has returned to save England and had their memories unlocked after drawing Excalibur from the stone, but is now on the run from the authorities for having an edged weapon

@apophis @vitalis people should be able to have, and use, "killing-people" weapons

@vitalis if we really want to be uncharitable to the Bee, the joke here could be "haha the woke govt is protecting these monsters like they're people and getting in the way of the righteous doing the right thing"
